This full-time position is the combination of two part-time positions. The work will likely not be 50/50 most weeks but shift as needed between coordination efforts with the community and taking care of the day-to-day office assistant duties.

As TBS-EV is a small non-profit, you will be expected to wear many hats and function in a wide range of disciplines. On a daily basis you will commonly perform a variety of different tasks in support of the synagogue’s goals.

As the Fundraising Coordinator, you are responsible for overseeing the fundraising efforts of the synagogue at the direction of the TBS-EV Board of Directors. You will work with the board to recommend, develop and implement strategies that will raise money for the synagogue. You will also be tasked with managing relationships with donors, volunteers, and other stakeholders. This might include developing plans for how these individuals can best contribute to the synagogue’s goals, as well as coordinating events or meetings where they can engage with one another. Your main goal for this role is to strive to make the TBS-EV a more thriving synagogue in terms of membership growth and retention and involvement in the activities of the synagogue.

As the Office Assistant, you are the glue that holds the synagogue together. You will provide critical support to TBS-EV’s rabbi, office manager, religious school director, bookkeeper, volunteer leadership and volunteer committees, ensuring that everything from day-to-day operations to long-term planning runs smoothly. These might include scheduling meetings and appointments, creating presentations and documents, answering phones, taking dictation, managing email communications, and much more. You will also be responsible for maintaining records and databases related to the synagogue’s activities. Your main goal for this role is to strive to make the synagogue more responsive to the needs of the community.

Days off will be balanced with Federal Holidays and Jewish holidays.

Responsibilities:
FUNDRAISING COORDINATOR ROLE:
-Managing events such as walks or runs to raise money for a cause or the synagogue.
-Making contact with prospective and new members. Invites such people to events and ensures that they meet many members and the Rabbi.
-Identifying potential donors and donor streams.
-Managing the synagogue’s database of donors, including contact information and gift histories.
-Developing marketing strategies for events such as galas or kosher wine tastings to ensure that the event is successful and meets its fundraising goals.
-Coordinating the work of volunteers at events by providing training and guidance.
-Coordinating with the Board and committees to prepare a long-term fundraising plan and set goals and benchmarks.
-Coordinating with the Board and committees within the synagogue to ensure that fundraising goals are met.
-Managing the synagogue’s donor database to track contributions and ensure prompt payment of pledges and ensure that all donations are recorded accurately.
-Preparing reports on donor activity for executive staff members and officers within the synagogue.
-Consulting with any Officers, Directors or Staff potentially affected by any proposed decisions made regarding TBS-EV and keeps the Board informed on updates to fundraising and membership throughout the year. --Seeks approval first from the Office Manager and subsequently from the Board prior to implementing any major changes to TBS-EV policies or practices.

OFFICE ASSISTANT ROLE:
-Providing clerical support such as typing emails and thank you letters.
-Processing payments for bills or other transactions.
-Greeting visitors and answering phones to direct calls appropriately.
-Recording information in an organized manner so that it can be easily retrieved by others in the future.
-Organizing files on computer using database software such as Google shared drives and Rakefet.
-Searching for information in synagogue databases or the internet to answer questions or resolve problems.
-Writing reports on research findings or other topics based on information gathered from interviews, surveys, and other sources.
-Preparing agendas and materials for meetings and conferences, including making travel arrangements and maintaining records of attendees.
-Coordinating office activities such as ordering supplies, arranging catering services at events, or setting up conference rooms.
-Interacting with members to resolve issues or answer questions regarding services rendered by the synagogue.

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: From $35,570.00 per year
Benefits: Paid time off
Schedule: 5x8 - 8 hour shift Monday to Friday

Must be able to reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work.
